[WEEK 1] LOCAL NEWS: Puduraya to reopen on FEB 2.

The reopening of Puduraya has been confirmed for February 2, which is the day after the Federal Territories Day. The station was closed in April 2010 for upgrading works involving a cost of RM52mil. The project supposed to be completed by the end of the year 2010. Yet, it was delayed due to additional work on the base of the building. To-date, 95% of upgrading works have been done. The terminal is set to be re-launched with a host of facilities to improve the level of transportation services. In the past, the terminal was complained by the passengers due to the poor condition of the bus station. On the other hand, buses were recklessly parked along the road, causing massive traffic jams. The upgrade comes with some main highlights that will ease the problems that have brought to travellers.  Now, two escalators have been build and headed to the basement, where buses are parked and one travellator from a new main entrance to the ground floor. Due to the new air-conditioned waiting area, passengers will no longer affect by the heat and smoke that released from buses while waiting for the bus. There are also two passenger lifts from the main entrance and four escalators to the second floor. Other new features include ticket counters, a surau and a food court.

In my opinion, even though this project is going to improve the public transportation and bringing a massive convenience to the public, but the government is taking too long to complete this project. This caused the public facing a lot of inconveniences and it is different from what government has promised. I wish that government can mind their words and complete every coming project on time.
